Midterm Reflection
October 16, 2025 • Research
With the midterm approaching, I wanted to reflect on my research thus far, as I feel it is important to reflect on my experience to share what I have learned, and how I can expand further. This process has overall been not only fulfilling, but it has made me feel much more validated. Looking through some of the sources I uncovered, especially the study that was conducted by Imogen Hanvey, Aida Malovic, and Evangelos Ntonis (featured under Initial Investigation), made me feel seen and helped me realize that this project is not only essential to glass children, but to parents, family members, therapists, and teachers. Furthermore, this process has helped me realized how glass children are not spoken about. They are often seen as the ones being the sane ones of the family, however, they carry so much emotion that no one ever talks about. I saw how special and educational this project could be to other people, if executed well, and I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with it.
Furthermore, the visual research component of my process has helped me significantly moving forward. The book, "Experiential Formats & Packaging" by Roger Fawcett Tang and Daniel Mason (listed under Visual Research), gave me the courage that I needed to really push the boundaries of my project, and to see what has been done. It also gave me a new sense of motivation to try new things, and to see how I can push my narrative forward.
