Book Concept Development

 

Once I had my form of delivery chosen, I then started to work on my first design drafts. To start, I expanded on my sketches I created last week with additional sketches to see where else I can explore.

Once these sketches were complete, I ended up moving over to digitizing my first initial layouts. When I started, I was exploring the grid and different layouts based on my sketches. The challenge with these were that I was working with creating die-cuts and vellum paper, and I had to explore how the layout will work with those elements. This ultimately included a lot of test prints, and experimentation. Below was my process of exploration:

Once I finished experimenting, I then started to create my 'final' layouts for this first draft. Below are the flat designs.

Once these were done, I then printed out my designs and created a rough prototype with the vellum paper and die cuts. I used a binder hold the pages together, and to see if they work together. Below are the mockups:
